At the Ruhrquellenhütte in Winterberg you'll find one of the few mountain cart tracks north of the Alps. On an unpowered three-wheeled cart you ride about 300 metres and seven bends downhill, at your own pace. The chairlift takes you back up to the top. You can ride on your own from 1.30 metres tall; smaller children ride free on an adult's lap. Helmets are compulsory and lent free of charge. Next to the track there's a large adventure playground, a stilt village with rope bridges and a terrace with a beer garden. Check current opening times before you go, as the track closes during the operator's holiday break.
